The Royal History of Givenchy Colognes and Perfumes

Count Hubert James Marcel Taffin de Givenchy opened his fashion house in 1952, and he developed the concept of mixing and matching separate pieces in women's outfits. Givenchy's aristocratic styles were worn by some of the most glamorous women of the day. Givenchy met his muse, Audrey Hepburn, in 1953, and he designed the black dress she famously wore in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. Soon, even royalty were wearing Givenchy's designs, including Princess Grace and Wallis Simpson, duchess of Windsor.

The first Givenchy perfume was created in 1957 and made quite a splash in the fashion world. When Audrey Hepburn appeared in the advertising campaign, she was the first film star to promote a perfume. Givenchy perfume for men was launched in 1959, and as the brand's success continued to grow, the fragrance line expanded. Givenchy has used many other stars as the faces of their fragrances since, including Justin Timberlake and Liv Tyler.

Today, Amarige and Xeryus are among the most popular Givenchy scents. Amarige is enjoyed for its oriental scent, which includes notes of citrus, peaches, plums, and melons, while Xeryus is a spicy scent for men grounded with lavender and amber.
